Roadways, Bridges and Traffic

Core Services

One of the County’s primary objectives is to provide our community with a safe and efficient unincorporated roadway system through the planning, design, construction and maintenance of road infrastructure, traffic safety and signal operations, annual road maintenance and related services.

Public Work’s roadway responsibilities include:

  • Securing funding to fully implement the County’s Master Plan of Arterial Highways.
  • Planning, designing, building, and maintaining public streets, bridges, and bikeways in unincorporated Orange County.
  • Developing standards for construction of public infrastructure by private developers.
  • Reviewing permits for private use of public roadway or for the modification of road infrastructure by private parties.
  • Participating in steering committees and working with special interest groups and organizations.
  • Providing project management, engineering, and construction management services to local municipalities, Caltrans, Transportation Corridor Agency (TCA), and the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) on cooperative projects.
